About the Company

In 1927, the first radio factory in Ukraine was established (after 1991 – the State Enterprise Kharkiv Radio Plant Proton), whose activities were aimed at the development and production of military radio engineering products: equipment for radio and radio-technical reconnaissance, direction finding, special radio communications, and more.

In the 1970s–80s, the product range was expanded to include civilian (tape recorders, radio receivers) and medical equipment.

In the course of work, a creative group of specialists from various enterprises and fields of knowledge (electronics engineers, doctors, biologists, etc.), led by A. S. Ivashchenko, was formed to address the development and further modernization of electrophysiological devices and medical equipment. scan Fig. 1. Atlas of Fish Protection Facilities for Water Intakes

For example, one result of their developments in the field of medical equipment was the Electromyostimulator MION-01 project. It became the first medical physiotherapeutic device in the USSR authorized by the Ministry of Health of the USSR for household use without the presence of a doctor. The circuitry design and production of the first series of 100,000 units took place at the Kharkiv Electromechanical Plant. Application methods were developed together with several leading medical institutions of the USSR.

In 1989, this team founded the scientific and production company Proton (SPC Proton), which continues to develop and manufacture electrical equipment of various types to this day.

The experience and understanding of biological processes occurring in nerve cells of biological objects were used by SPC Proton, in particular, in the creation of electro-gradient fish protection equipment (EGRZ-M), designed to prevent fish from entering water intake facilities of enterprises.

The development and testing of EGRZ-M fish protection methods were carried out at industrial water intakes under the supervision of leading USSR specialists in this field, including jointly with V. V. Petrashkevich, the author of the Fish Protection Facilities section of SNiP 2.06.07-87. Based on the test results, the developers of SNiP 2.06.07-87 included the EGRZ-M developed by SPC Proton in the Atlas of Fish Protection Facilities for Water Intakes (Figure 1). scan Fig. 1. The EGRZ-M developed by SPC Proton is authorized for installation at all water intakes in Ukraine according to the expert opinion of the State Design Institute for Fisheries and Industry Ukrryboproekt, and recommended by the State Agency of Ukraine for Land Reclamation, Fisheries, and Food Programs (the fisheries inspection).
